A new combined public event is being held Saturday May 13th at the Vermont Granite Museum. From 11am to 4pm will be the Barre Mini Maker Faire, a collection of hands-on displays of artists, craftsmen, inventors, crafters, and hobbyists exhibiting new technology, and new forms of art and crafts, along with "how to" demonstrations. Maker Faires are intended to be family friendly festivals to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to think out of the box, create new ways of solving problems, and to learn by doing.
Additonally, from 11am to 7pm will be the Barre Barbecue held on the grounds of the Vermont Granite Museum. Different vendors will be selling a wide array of smoked, barbecue meats, and entertainment will be provided later in the day by the VT Bluegrass Pioneers and the Starline Rythm Boys.
"We really wanted bring both events, the BBQ and the Maker Faire, to central Vermont," says Josh Jerome, Director of the Barre Partnership, "and figured why not combine the two, especially at this outstanding venue, the Vermont Granite Museum. We know that this will be a fun day for everyone."
