Sarah L. Field is the current President of Barre Area Development, Inc.,and has served on the board for many years. She is a lawyer admitted to practice in Vermont in 1987 with an office in Barre, VT. Her area of concentration involves transactional law including: real estate and business acquisitions, sales, secured financing, leasing and development.
Barre Area Development, Inc. (BADC) is a non-profit development organization that promotes economic development in Barre Town and Barre City. It is governed by a 15-member board made up of business leaders in the two communities. The BADC coordinates many activities that help maintain and improve civic pride and the economic, social and cultural quality of life in Barre Town and Barre City. These activities support opportunities for economic development and employment, strengthening the tax base and increasing private and municipal investment.
BADC was organized in 1961 under Vermont Statutes as a 501 (c) 6 non-profit corporation. The organization focuses primarily on industrial, commercial and retail development by providing information and support to potential new and existing businesses. BADC is funded annually by the City and Town equally and also works on behalf of each municipality to assist their municipal officials in developing public infrastructure that supports community and economic development
BADC is responsible for the development of the Wilson Industrial Park and the Malden Mills building in Barre Town as well as the Allen Street Light Industrial Park and the Beck and Beck Building in Barre City.
BADC collaborates with the Barre Partnership, the City's Downtown Main Street Program, and many other organizations in Barre. BADC has always depended solely on the efforts of its volunteer board members to be a successful economic development force for the Barre area. Since 2008, however, the BADC has bolstered its provision of services through the hiring of a full-time Executive Director to help bring additional focus to business assistance, recruitment and retention.

Bob, Jr. was born in Barre and grew up in East Barre. He graduated from Spaulding High School and furthered his education at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center, Vt., graduating with a degree in Architecture.
Bob is currently president of E.F.Wall & Associates, Inc., a family owned construction company started by his father in 1969. He manages the business with his two brothers. The company is based in Barre and provides construction services throughout Vermont and western New Hampshire, employing a staff of +/- 90 employees. In addition, Bob and his family own commercial property in and around the Barre area. Bob Jr. is a second generation director of Barre Area Development, Inc. (BADC). His father, Bob Sr., was a founding member of BADC.
In addition to being a director, Bob Jr. is a member of BADC’s executive committee and the current Vice President of BADC. He is a past president of the Association of General Contractors of Vermont and a past president of the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce. He is also a former Barre Town Selectman.
Bob is an avid outdoorsman, enjoys working on his property and land, shooting skeet, and spending time with family and friends.
Bob and his wife, Kim, live in Barre Town, have 4 children and, as of 2014, have 6 grandchildren.
Al was born and raised in Rutland, Vermont and is a 1980 graduate of Bentley College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Following graduation he worked at First Vermont Bank & Trust Co. and Proctor Bank as Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer. Since 1992, he has been at Northfield Savings Bank as Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer, Commercial Services Team Leader and currently as Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. He is also a member of the bank’s Executive Management Group.
He has been active in a range of civic organizations such as the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce and the Barre Tournament Committee. He is a past president of the Barre Partnership.
Al has been with the Barre Area Development Corporation since 1985, is a BADC past President, and presently serves as its Treasurer. He is also a member of its Executive Committee
Jon was born and raised in Montpelier, Vermont, and graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Business Administration. After residing in Rhode Island and Colorado briefly, he returned to Vermont. In late 1981, Jon joined Paige & Campbell, Inc., a firm founded by his great grandfather and successively owned and managed by his grandfather and father. He earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 1990 and was named Vice President in 1993. Paige & Campbell, Inc. is a general insurance agency with its main office in Barre and branch offices in Bristol and Waitsfield and operates as the Taylor Palmer agency in Bradford. The firm is principally owned and managed by Jon and his brother, Steve. Jon served as President of the Vermont Insurance Agents Association in 1999-2000 and previously on the Vermont Insurance Council and Treasurer of the Associated Risk Managers of Vermont. Currently he is the secretary for the Barre Area Development Corporation.
Jon has resided in Fayston for the past 25 years and has been the Chair of the Fayston Development Review Board since it’s inception in 2007 and the Chair of the ZBA previous to that. He is married to Barbara Morrison and they have two daughters. Jon enjoys telemark skiing, bicycling, hiking, cooking and reading.
Bob was born in Natick, Ma. and his family moved to the Barre area when he was two years old. He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1977 and attended Paul Smiths College, located in the hamlet of Paul Smiths, N.Y., northwest of Saranac Lake, N.Y. He graduated from Paul Smiths with a degree in Applied Sciences.
He is president of Lajeunesse Interiors, Inc., a business founded in 1980 by his wife Ann. Lajeunesse Interiors, Inc. became incorporated in 1984
Bob is a past president of Barre Area Development, Inc. and, in addition to currently being a director, is a member of its executive committee. In addition, he is a director and three time past president of Barre Kiwanis and former director and past treasurer of Barre Jaycees.
His interest include skiing, flyfishing, varied water activities, and spending time with his wife Ann at their summer camp located on Lake Carmi. The Hutchins currently reside in East Barre and have three grown children, Isaac, Jason, and Stephanie
Markus Browning was born and raised in Barre Vermont. He attended Spaulding High School before heading off to college. Markus graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Business Administration and minors in Public Relations and Communications. During the final semester of his college career, he began Stone & Browning Property Management LLC with longtime friend Reuben Stone. Upon returning to Vermont he hit the ground running. S&B handles the day to day headaches of owning rental property by helping streamline the process. Their expertise and knowledge of real estate benefits their clients by maximizing the return on their investment. Markus enjoys live music, playing music, and dancing to music. He also enjoys skiing, hiking, and going to music festivals. He lives in E. Montpelier with his fiance Quinn and dog porter! Markus' burning desire is to own a music venue/brewery!
Kristen is a Barre native who received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Hartford. After college Kristen lived throughout New England and abroad before coming back to Barre in 2006. Kristen has both Primary and Elementary Montessori training. She has worked for the Montessori School of Central Vermont for over ten years, first as a teacher and now as the Head of School. She lives in Barre with her husband, two sons and their dog.
Eddie is a self-employed career agent with National Life Group since 1991. He is a Registered Representative of, and securities are offered solely by Equity Services, Inc, with offices in Barre and Montpelier.
He is currently the President of the Rotary Club of Montpelier, President of the Spaulding High School Foundation, and is a member of the Spaulding High School Board, currently serving his 2nd year of a 3 year term. Ed is also on the Act 46 Study Committee which is required by the State of Vermont to consider consolidating school boards (Barre City Elementary & Middle School, Barre Town Elementary School, and Spaulding High School)
He resides in Barre with his wife Sandy and their daughter, Olivia, and Shitzu dog, Max.
Tony Campos manages cable access Central Vermont Television located in Barre and a producer and director of video productions. He is known for creating the show, New England Cooks and he is co-host and producer. He is resident of Barre and is huge supporter of all things Barre. Keith Paxman was born and raised in Barre, VT, and is a Spaulding High School graduate. He attended Castelton State University and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Following graduation he worked for Chittenden Trust Company as a Sales and Service Representative.
In 1997 he moved to the US Virgin Islands and was a restaurant manager at Caneel Bay Resort and then became the general manager of The Lime Inn until 2004. In 2004 he and his wife Julia moved to Warren, VT and bought The Common Man Restaurant. After selling The Common Man Restaurant in 2011, Keith and his best childhood friend, Rich McSheffrey, opened Cornerstone Pub & Kitchen, Two Loco Guys in the newly revitalized downtown of Barre, Cornerstone Burger Co. in Northfield, VT, and Cornerstone Catering.
Keith has served on the board of the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce, and was a chair on the board of the Mad River Association of Wedding Professionals. He has served on the Barre Area Development Corporation from 2013 - 2014, and January 2020 - present
Commercial Loan Officer Dave Rubel joined Community National Bank in 2014 after several years of working as an Area Business Advisor for Vermont Small Business Development Center. Dave is a graduate of the ABA Commercial Lending School, the Northern New England School of Banking and the RMA Lending School. He is also a graduate of American University, Washington, DC. Dave is a past President of the Montpelier Rotary Club, has chaired the Barre Partnership Economic Development Committee, served as a Director for the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce and has chaired Central Vermont Road Pitch. In 2010, Dave was recognized as a Rising Star by Vermont Business Magazine. The following year he attended the Vermont Leadership Institute (VLI). He has also been a coach and board member of Barre Youth Lacrosse. Currently, Dave sits on the advisory board for the Vermont Small Business Development Center. Dave was born and raised in Barre where he currently resides with his wife Minori and their children Lia and Noah.
John Lyon is the Manager of Wilkin’s-Harley Davidson of South Barre and Essex Junction, an award winning dealership owned and operated by the Wilkens/Lyon family for 3 generations. Jen Lawrence is the Manger of Lawrence Properties, a holding company that rents and leases real estate in Central Vermont, including downtown Barre City. Jen and her husband, Justin, own and operate Essential Retirement Services, Inc, in Barre, a firm that specializing in insurance products for those who are 55 and over.
Andrea has worked in the field of special education in VT for over 30 years. Currently she is the Co-Director of School Transformation for the Central Vermont Supervisory Union. Additionally she is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative where she also is an instructor for graduate and undergraduate courses. She is also the President-Elect for the Vermont Council of Special Education Administrators.
Andrea has lived Barre (both the city and the town) for 30+ years and is the mother of 3 adult daughters.
